If you can read this article uninterrupted, I salute you.

I know I haven’t posted here in a little bit — Okay, okay, I see the cobwebs too! But I had a question: When you first sit down to write a paper, what things distract you most? What goes through your head when you first begin to write? For me, I have this thought, “Is this really due tomorrow?” and then I usually get distracted by something completely random. Regardless of what the distraction is, I will find it fascinating. In fact, I would wager to say the vast majority of interesting things I find get shoved under my nose right when I’m trying to do homework. In particular, English homework fits this rule best. I guess I should be thankful. To my English teachers; thank you all for helping me find interesting things….I think. To everyone else; please tell me what distracts you. I’m not going to say why I want to know if you don’t already know, nevertheless you can trust I’m going to do something interesting with the responses I get, assuming I get any.

Merry Christmas to all and a happy new year. In the busyness of this day, above all else, remember the birth of Jesus because that was the start of it all. Everything else is just icing on the cake. My first semester of school at Farragut has gone smoothly and I’m looking forward to German and Art next semester. I thank you all for everthing you’ve done for me this year and hope I can repay you eventually.

Back to School

So… Summer is over and it’s back to school. Wait…I lied. The first day of Fall is September 22nd. Oh well, it is back to school. I’m currently reading The Man Who Planted Trees to finish up summer reading. I’m looking forward to school at Farragut and will be packing my backpack soon.

Protest at the House of Representatives

Last Friday the Republican party was presenting a bill to allow offshore drilling. They were about to start a debate or vote when the Democratic speaker of the house, Nancy Pelosi, in order to avoid the vote, called a vote to adjourn the house early for a five week break. Since the house is controlled by Democrats, it won by one vote. This is surprising considering all but 4 of the republicans (195) and 16 democrats voted not to adjourn. Full stats as recorded by the house clerk can be viewed here. The Republicans, shocked to see that those in favor of adjourning wouldn’t even have a debate on the subject, stayed in the room discussing the bill anyway. Pelosi then sent the media out, and turned off the lights, microphones, and cameras. One Democrat was heard saying “You’re not covering this, are you?” to the the media.

Needless to say, not very many media agencies have reported on this topic. Freedom of the press indeed.

The Republicans then opened up the room to outside citizens and got megaphones to continue talking and giving speeches, urging Pelosi to call a vote. They ended that day in a round of “God Bless America.” Today, they continued their protest. Below is one of the very few videos collected. Sit tight folks, it’s a revolution and it could get interesting.

Pelosi didn’t want drilling but did want to open up the national oil reserve.

Facebook 3: My Thoughts

I have just played around with Facebook 3 and I can tell you now, it is a good change. One of the first things I noticed were the tabs. Separating annoying applications like pieces of flair and super poke from useful things like the wall and picture application was a big improvement. The second thing I noticed is that you no longer need a “Super Wall” or a “Fun Wall”, you have THE WALL. The wall is combined with the mini feed to make something similar to FriendFeed… …and I have combined with my minifeed. Thank you facebook for a more organized way to socialize. Facebook 3 can be previewed by anyone simply by adding the developer application and going to www.new.facebook.com

Firefox 3 Downloads Record Setting?

Firefox 3’s release date is this Tuesday and it’s looking HUGE. I can not take part in download day due to camp buck toms. For everyone else however, I would highly recommend getting Firefox 3 and taking part in this little download party Mozilla is hosting. Here is a video of some of the new features that should make you want to switch to Firefox 3.

Since FLL last fall I haven’t really been blogging. I intend to change that. Now that I have a WordPress blog I will continue. This site, amoose.psoplayer.com, is rapidly changing. I will still be posting during this time but if you visit this site you most likely won’t see the same thing you saw last time you were here. I have decided to change from Xanga to WordPress because WordPress gives me the following:

Custom CSS
Widgets
Ajax
Better spam prevention
No ads
External editors
Custom HTML
Better themes

So you see this site looks much more promising than my Xanga. Thanks goes to psoplayer for the domain name and hosting.
